All Couples Should Learn These 11 Things About Each Other
Regardless of how long you’ve been together.
Everyone knows that “communication is key” when it comes to building a relationship, but in an age of DMs, abbreviated texts, emojis, and date invitations via SnapChat (yes, really…) what does communication really mean?
What it should mean, is that two people are fully comfortable and trusting when it comes to opening up to each other about important topics. We can express our deepest wants, needs, and desires to our partner — but also our fears, insecurities, and doubts.
Most of us have all of the above in spades.
A relationship is supposed to be an emotional safe haven for us, a place that we know we don’t have to put on the same “show” we do for the outside world.
This, though, is what makes it so difficult. It’s not an easy task to trust another person with the deepest crevices of our soul. Precisely why that very trust must be earned and maintained over time.
As it is, though, we’ll feel more and more secure with sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly with the person we’ve grown to love.
These conversations clearly go far beyond your favorite movie, color, or the stuffed animal you loved the most growing up.
