In Dating: Do More Fishing, Less Hunting

In the “pickup artist” community, there’s something called the three second rule. Essentially, it dictates that you should approach or say hello to someone within three seconds of making eye contact with them.

If you’re wondering what a pickup artist is, a quick Google search will likely confirm your suspicions. I will say, however, The Game by Neil Strauss is a fascinating read and changed my entire perspective on dating when I was around 20 years old.

Back on topic, though:

Some would argue that the three second rule shows confidence and assertiveness. You don’t hesitate — you just go for what you want.

When I was single, though, I always adopted a much different philosophy, and I’m going to explain why I think it’s more effective than just diving in head first.

Needless to say, something different is going to work for everyone — so you can take this and either throw it out the window, or implement it into your own dating life.
