(Self) Love In The Age Of Coronavirus (You Are Not Alone)

Many of us feel a loss of control during a crisis that can take our jobs away, separate us from loved ones, or change our entire way of life. It’s time to take back that control again.

When we reflect on the individual challenges we are facing, it is very easy to feel discouraged and alone during difficult times. But when these times are upon every living soul on earth, it gives us an opportunity to come together and support each other.

It also provides an opportunity to reconnect with ourselves. It’s easy to get caught up in the constant hustle of life and lose sight of who we really are and what’s really important to us.

Challenges are the very things that shape us into the people we choose to become. They reveal us to ourselves, and to others. They strengthen (hopefully) our relationships. Mostly, though, they can be an opportunity for growth.

I posted on Facebook and asked what everyone’s biggest personal or professional challenge has been due to this pandemic. One specific answer caught my attention.

A woman said that she feels “unimportant.” When I asked her why, she said it’s because she’s been deemed “non-essential.”
