The Modern Man’s Dating Guidebook

It’s a whole new world (mostly).

Men are becoming increasingly confused as to what’s expected from them in dating, or when in an intimate relationship. For the first time in human history, we are navigating a landscape that no longer requires a man to ‘provide for and protect’ the woman in his life.

Or…are we?

I hear a lot of frustration from both my male and female clients about the current state of dating. Men are frustrated that women don’t seem to value romance anymore…and women are frustrated that men think they don’t value romance anymore.

I believe much of this comes down to miscommunication. Despite the evolution of society (finally) empowering women to excel, and in many areas outperform their male counterparts, that doesn’t change a woman’s desire to…well, be desired. No matter how strong, independent, or well-established a woman is, the dynamics in an intimate relationship still come down to how both partners feel on a human, emotional, and psychological level.

I believe we’re at a confusing bypass, making introspection (and evolution) a requirement. We must gain a greater understanding of how relationships thrive in a new world with new rules, and men need to understand how their roles have shifted in life and love.
