Kudos to you, dear reader, for being ready and willing to put the time and energy into building a happy and healthy relationship with a person who’s ready to receive you, and to give themselves back to you in return.

Mutual readiness is the first step — if either partner isn’t ready for love, no words or actions will ever fully resonate with them.

The next, of course, is consistent and authentic action that shows someone we are serious about building a bond and a life together. That, after all, is the “effort” we speak of.

If you’ve heard people talking about this “effort” but aren’t exactly sure how to define it in your mind, let’s talk about things you can do show someone that you truly care for them (and for yourself).

1: Get your “exploring” done first.

Some of the things that you’ll do for the person you love don’t actually have anything to do with them.

Often, the life that we live before we meet someone will prepare us for our life with them. It’ll teach us about ourselves, give us experiences that help us grow, and show us what we do (and don’t) want through relationships that don’t work out.
